Bigfin Reefsquid

A superb sea-hunter with an extremely well-developed sense of sight

The bigfin reef squid is a large squid that inhabits Japan’s coastal regions. Squids have large eyes in comparison with their body size and possess exceptional vision for a sea dwelling creature. They are especially sensitive to bluish-green light around 400 nanometers in wavelength, enabling them to find prey with the minute amount of light that reaches the deep sea.
